Small and medium-sized companies rarely have a full-time security team, yet they run the same cloud services, laptops and business applications as large organisations — and are increasingly asked by their customers to prove they are secure.
TEMERON is itself a founder-led SME. We focus on measures that give the most protection for the effort, and on running them reliably.
Why NIS2 matters even if you are small
NIS2 applies in general to medium-sized and larger organisations in the covered sectors, and to some entities regardless of size (Directive (EU) 2022/2555, Art. 2). But covered companies must also manage supply-chain security, taking into account "the vulnerabilities specific to each direct supplier and service provider" and their "cybersecurity practices" (Art. 21(2)(d) and 21(3)). If you supply such a company, expect security questionnaires and contract clauses.
What we do for SMEs
- Security monitoring and incident detection with TEMERON's XDR, our own Wazuh deployment: log collection, correlation, alerting and incident response workflows.
- Hardening of cloud, on-premise and hybrid systems: secure configuration, access control and access management.
- Vulnerability assessment and penetration testing, followed by help with the fixes.
- Secure software engineering: CI/CD hardening, automated security checks, audit logging.
- NIS2 readiness: risk assessment, policies, incident-reporting workflows and the documentation customers ask for.
- GDPR and AI governance advice where personal data or AI tools are involved.
Frequently asked questions
We are a small company. Does NIS2 apply to us?
Usually not directly: NIS2 generally covers medium-sized and larger organisations in the listed sectors, with some exceptions regardless of size (Art. 2). It can still affect you indirectly, because covered customers must assess the security of their direct suppliers (Art. 21(2)(d) and 21(3)).
Where should an SME start?
With an inventory of systems and data, a short risk assessment and the basics: multi-factor authentication, backups, updates, access control and monitoring of critical systems.
Do we need our own security team for monitoring?
Not necessarily. Monitoring can run on TEMERON's XDR, our own Wazuh deployment, with alerts and incident workflows agreed with your team.
Can you answer our customers' security questionnaires?
We help you put the measures in place and document them, so the answers to customer questionnaires are backed by evidence.
