The Beginning of the IT World
Our world today can be easily defined by connections. Change is necessary and it happens without us even noticing it. But have you ever wondered how our connected world started in the first place? Well, connections exist since humanity itself exists, as we, social beings, depend on them. But where are the roots of communication and technology?
Our world today can be easily defined by connections. Change is necessary and it happens without us even noticing it. But have you ever wondered how our connected world started in the first place? Well, connections exist since humanity itself exists, as we, social beings, depend on them. But where are the roots of communication and technology?
The first form of written communication appeared during the Pre-mechanical age through petroglyphs- drawing on stones or the walls of caves. Those were the “ancestors” of papyrus and eventually paper. During those times, the abacus was also invented, being the first calculator.

The Mechanical age brought us developments in the field of technology, as there was a rising interest in computation and information. The Pascaline computer was then invented. This computer could do mathematical equations such as addition, multiplication, subtraction.
Telecommunications has its roots in the Electromechanical age, when the telephone, radio and Morse code were invented. In this age the first large-scale automatic computer was invented in the US.
The Information age, the one we live in today, is described as the switch from traditional industry to a digitalized economy. The internet, which connects the computers with one another, was invented in 1969, but the invention of World Wide Web in 1989 made it accessible all over the world.

Changes and the adaptation to society’s needs led people to develop this domain. It is a field that keeps growing and who knows in what direction it will continue to grow?
